President's Update - December '24

After a productive strategy session, the team within the committee identified some incredible opportunities for us to bring a better hockey experience to all our amazing members. With finalisations of events and dates coming soon, we'll be able to reveal more details soon, but here are some broad opportunities we've identified

PARENTS, WE HAVE PLANS TO SUPPORT YOU BETTER NEXT YEAR

Parents are a huge part of our community. Shuttling your little ones around, supporting and encouraging them to mention just a few things. We know comms has been lacking so that's already on the agenda below. Next year, we're planning to make sure you're better included in our community. We want Western to be a place for you, not just for your children, so we're going to provide opportunities for you to form your own friendships and connections more easily, as well as try to make your 'supporters life' easier!

WE BELIEVE IN OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR PLAYERS INTO REPS

The committee will be looking into ways to encourage our players, whatever their level, to make the move up into Representative Hockey when the opportunities arrive. Not only that, we're looking into ways to make sure that there are as few barriers to your representative journey as we can. With Marc on the Executive Board at Auckland Hockey, he's already made a commitment to improve Auckland Hockey - and there are some great opportunities going forward for Rep players so we want to ensure our Westies get their chance!

OPENING UP COMMUNICATION

As part of our drive to open up communication, we've completely rebuildt our website to ensure all the information, event details, news and resources are easily available. It's our goal to make the website the first point of contact for the club so that you can find out all the information you need quickly and efficiently, reducing any wait time or associated stress.

In parallel, we've begun overhauling the newsletter to keep the information flowing. If you know anyone who's not receiving these emails and who should be, please recommend to them that they sign up online now!
